What is the worst kind of torture that you've heard of?

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

For me personally, anything to do with nails/extremeties being taken off or messed up gets me.

Like the torture detailed in LOST where Sayid puts bamboo shoots in Sawyers finger tips, that sounds sore as f***.

Other than that there's a lovely one I heard about, coincidentally also involves bamboo.

I forget what it's called but basically you're tied down over a bed of earth of some sort...and bamboo shoots are placed underneath you.
Because they grow so fast, over the course of a few days/weeks they will slowly but surely pierce in to your body and literally grow through you.

I can imagine that being excruciating, not only is it painful but it'd take a long time and you'd CONSTANTLY feel it pushing in to you, piercing your organs, sliding past any bones or bending around them.

No.

No thank you.

I would say torture is a very extreme, cruel expression of survival of the strongest (Machiavellism).

There are psychopats who do it for pleasure and enjoyment. But: during course of history and even today it's mainly used as a tool to maintain power and suppress other people. There is a reason behind it. Not a justified reason, but there is a reason it is used frequently, certainly if the stakes are high.

Leve Feyenoord 1!

Brazen bull seems like it was pretty s***ty.

Blood Eagle doesn't seem comfortable.

Lingchi and flaying would hurt I think.

Also immurement which is basically imprisonment for life except you get no provisions so you die from dehydration and starvation.

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

Being forced to play modern Bethesda games like Fallout 4. Forever.

Shivers
Not a fate I would wish on my worst enemy.

But for real, as for actual torture... I would have to say, true, solitary confinement. Humans are social creatures, and if left, in a room or cell or something. No one to talk to. Nothing to do. No way to take your mind off of the confinement. Just, sitting there, and waiting for who knows how long...

That can break a person far worse than mere pain (granted the fact that most of these do end up killing the person does challenge that). But while those use various implements, this is just locking them in a hole and forgetting about them (maybe bringing in food through a tube or shaft).

The burning isn’t torture, it’s a long execution. Anyway, torture Olympics is pretty insane to quantity. Just depends on the individual
Being burned at the stake was a form of torture. There are accounts of people having the chance to recant their sins, confess or whatever while strung up before the fire consumed them completely. That's why I specifically said "burned at the stake" and not "burned alive".
No, so far as I know, that wasn't the doctrine of the burnings. The ability to recant was always given before, never during. By the time they decided to burn, then it was an execution. Mostly because saving someone from it is really, really hard.
